The Lafayette Practice is pleased to announce the arrival of our International Development and Communications Summer 2015 Intern, Kate Hinchey. She is a McBride Scholar at Bryn Mawr College and her internship has been made possible through Bryn Mawr’s Deans office and Haverford College’s Center for Peace and Global Citizenship. Based in Philadelphia, Kate has been a leader in the LGBTQI youth movement since 2009 and has worked extensively as an activist in the larger Philadelphia queer community. In her time as a Development Coordinator for the William Way LGBT Community Center and in her previous work with Stimulus Gives Back, Kate works to create more spaces for queer Philadelphians to engage with and contribute to their communities. Kate served as the Pennsylvania Student Equality Coalition, Board of Directors Vice President – the only youth led, youth focused independent 501(c)(3) in the US. Since 2012, Kate has also volunteered as the Communications and Outreach head for the Philadelphia Dyke March, a collective of radical, dyke-identified organizers working to create a space that celebrates the experiences of self-identified dykes and their allies.
